This article comes at the perfect time. How do you truely manage to choose what to leave out of such rich stories?

This is Jeremiah, and that’s a great question! It helps to have a great editor. Sarah is an experienced journalist and editor with an eye for narrative flow. I think being a history teacher has also helped me organize my notes. I have to consider which 1) details are crucial for understanding a time, place, and event, 2) which details are cool to keep things interesting, and 3) which details might be of interest to historians but could probably be saved for a bonus episode or newsletter. When researching and writing about Livingstone, who lived such a rich life, these decisions can be difficult. That’s why it’s good to have a collaborator.
